This Elephant Ear plant in the grow room absolutely went off—pushing new unfurled leaves while also producing 5 blooms during the timelapse. Watching this tropical powerhouse grow never gets old.

The plant shown here is an Alocasia, commonly called an Elephant Ear. While these plants are famous for their massive leaves, blooming indoors is actually fairly uncommon. When they do flower, it usually means the plant is extremely healthy and thriving in its environment.

Elephant Ear blooms look similar to other aroids (like peace lilies) with a spathe and spadix flower structure. The blooms don’t last long, but they’re a sign the plant has enough energy to reproduce—something that doesn’t always happen inside.

This plant clearly loves the grow room. 🦍
